Which throne do you use, and would you recommend it to others? Do you like it when your seat rotates with your body while you play, or do you prefer it to be absolutely solid and still?
Tama and Roc n Soc are nice thrones. Get one with 3 legs, four legged seats need to place on even, level surfaces or they'll wobble. Always give your throne the "Butt" test. If it's not comfortable you won't practice as long or be comfortable til the end of your gig.
I use a DW and it works great, I don't personally like thrones that swivel with the body movement, stationary is best.
Interesting. I've got the Yamaha mesh throne. It has three legs, and is super comfortable, but I think I'd like to go back to a 'round' throne. The rectangular seat is comfortable, but it's weird when you're pivoting left and right.

I use a Roc N' Soc and find it to be really comfortable. It's got a blue cloth seat because I found that plastic or faux-leather ones made my backside sweat.
I make my drumseat swivel a little bit so I twist my legs to get round the drums rather than my back. To be honest though, I don't really swivel that much on it, it's nice to have the ability to when needed though. It's different with a rounded seat because it's the same all around the edge, but with a formed, motorcycle seat, you need to be in a certain position to get the best comfort...
As far as a base is concerned, I've been looking into gettin a hydrolic one from Gibralter after trying a friends and finding iu to be total ass paradise!
I'm also looking into getting a backrest, but it'll be my first. Sitting around for hours in studios and rehearsal rooms takes it's toll on my back.

Yes it can be fitted with a back rest. I've tried a few with the back rest and they seem to be quite adjestable! I have a red nitro throne which is fun to jump around in.. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

I have a Roc 'N' Soc throne with motorcycle seat and backrest. It's very comfortable.
i tried one of the new pearl ones in a shop recently and it was seriously comfortable. had a backrest but it was vertical rather than horizontal so didnt get in the way.....will buy one when i have the money.
